As if the Kovalchuk saga can't get anymore bizarre, the NHL rejected his most recent contract with the New Jersey Devils. At first glance a 17-year deal seemed ludicrous, especially in the cap era of the NHL. All indications are is that the NHLPA will file a grievance which may take five days.
